Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and direct operations of the nursing home based on policies established by the governing board.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility and keep the organization on track for its long term goals and mission
- Ensure the facility operates in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- 24/7 responsibility for all aspects of care provided to residents and for the nursing home’s environmental functioning.
- Coordinate and provide leadership to each clinical, managerial, and custodial team, and ensure that they work together effectively.
- Direct the hiring and training of employees.
- Interface with residents, families, and staff
- interpret resident needs and collaborate with families
- Direct the activities of the medical, nursing, technical, clerical, laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, social service, activity, and volunteer staff.
- Maintain and develop standards, policies, programs, and operating procedures which comply with federal and state regulations.
- Create and maintain a budget.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure residents’ individual care plans are being followed
- Oversee quality assurance protocols
- Ensure regular safety and compliance training
- Prepare official reports for the nursing home’s governing body and state and federal agencies.
- Attend meetings with staff, families, the governing body, insurance companies, and Medicare and Medicaid administrators.
- Act as the ‘face’ of the organization to the governing board, the public, and residents’ families; and as the liaison between staff, residents, and families.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in healthcare administration, including course work in business and human resources.
Licensure Certification:
Current/active Minnesota Nursing Home Administrator License
Current/active Assisted Living Director License
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Organized and detailed in work performance
- Good communication skills including the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations, the survey process and quality measures
- Knowledge of cost reporting, profit and loss and budget compliance.
- Knowledge of reimbursement regulations and practices
- Genuine caring for and interest in an aging population in a nursing and assisted living facility
- Strong ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation
- Ability to be flexible in work hours.
