Job Summary

This position provides care to assigned residents in a caring, safe and efficient manner and is responsible to perform the following according to North Star Manor standards, procedures and individualized resident care plans.

Directs the operations of an assisted living community and is responsible to implement, maintain, and coordinate operations, projects and financial matters within core areas. Responsible for the coordinating and supporting of an atmosphere for residents, staff, visitors and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Completes comprehensive nursing assessment of all residents on admission and on an ongoing basis according to state and federal regulations using the nursing process. Demonstrates competence in clinical skills as identified on Competency Verification and Training Checklist. Assures assigned residents receives ordered medication, treatments and other procedures within defined time frames, utilizing appropriate infection control procedures. Demonstrates familiarity with therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered. Obtains equipment I supplies to provide care as needed. Assures procedures are followed for pressure ulcers, dehydration, malnutrition, incontinence, pain and medication administration. Accurately completes glucometer testing and control monitoring accordance to procedure. Implements specific approaches to deal with behavior, enhances residents’ mood state according to resident care plan. Assures resident care for assigned resident completed through reviewing documentation and updating as necessary. Uses the EMR accurately. Documents actions and notations for all resident condition changes according to policy and procedure. Records daily skilled nursing notes. Documents all actions taken related to admission, discharge, transfers or death. Documents incidents or accidents resident record and all necessary forms. Completes behavior documentation according to policy and procedure. Completes seven-day observation tool. Assists/participates in quality improvement process, including audits and corrective procedures as assigned. May complete the assigned portions of the MDS for Nursing and sign the MDS forms to signify completion of the process. Assures physician’s orders are processed and physicians notified in a timely manner. Makes rounds with physicians as assigned. Attends or obtains resident call lights. Directs and assists with resident, family/significant other education. Notifies family on condition changes etc. Reports/assures timely follow ups of signs/symptoms of resident infections.

Assists and participates in the QAPI process and develops and implements a quality improvement plan. Participates in and reviews external and internal audits to ensure quality focus and incorporates resolutions to findings. Recruits, hires, trains and staffs work area at appropriate levels in accordance with their specific assigned duties and regulatory requirements and staff scheduling plan. Plan and maintain written safety and evacuation procedures and emergency disaster procedures and communicates plans to residents. Conducts safety meetings, identifies potential safety hazards, and implements a plan of resolution. Meets service obligations as defined in agreements. Schedules or leads management meetings with residents and provides opportunities to meet residents’ whole person wellness needs. Provides leadership within the senior living community. Formulates budget; follows budgeting requirements and rate increase procedures. Reviews budget projections; analyzes budget deviations and take corrective actions to bring operating expenses into compliance with budget. Maintains vendor contracts and records. Manages occupancy cycle processes; maintains occupancy at targeted occupancy levels. Meets occupancy agreement obligations related to unit maintenance and reasonable accommodations. Manages the move-in process, following policies and procedures; including applications, interviews, screenings, verification, orientation. Manages resident files, and maintains the waiting list. Observes and enforces resident compliance with all occupancy documents. Coordinates move out process and follows through on compliance issues according to policies and state law. Performs regular grounds and building inspections. Maintains preservative maintenance plan in order to promote a well-maintained building, systems, grounds, etc. Oversee sales and marketing strategy for the senior living community; ensure a strong marketing, sales and customer engagement program is in place, including, maintaining an ongoing sales/marketing plan. Arranges and participates in sales and marketing events; assures advertising, collateral materials and other marketing materials are current, accurate and compliant with brand standards. 

Qualifications

Education Experience Licensure Certification: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Prior work experience in like or related position preferred. Maintains required certification/qualifications and associated standards. Licensure for state of practice is required; current CPR certification or ability to become certified in CPR within 180 days of hire.Technical training or college degree preferred in administration, healthcare, real estate, property management, business or related field helpful and preferred. Prior work experience in housing management or healthcare preferred. Working with elderly persons in a setting of mutual obligations and duties will be helpful.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate and comprehend. Exemplifies and promotes a strong commitment to customer service. Ability to read and understand regulations, budgets and budgeting, ability to accurately perform basic mathematic calculations. Time management skills required.

Knowledge: Knowledge of basic nursing skills; knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered. Ability to use computers, with knowledge of word process, spreadsheet, email, database management and specialized property management software programs. Demonstrated reading, writing, and verbal skills required. Prior knowledge of housing programs and regulations very helpful. Knowledge of tenant-landlord law, federal fair housing and regulations/program requirements applicable to the specific type of senior living services being offered at the property.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will operate/activate/use/prepare/inspect/place/detect/position objects, tools, or controls. The employee will frequently communicate/express oneself/exchange/observe/assess/detect information relative to this position. The employee is required to maintain a stationary position/move/position self in response to job tasks. Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Weight lifting requirement of 30 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequency of travel may vary based on business need.
